What do you know about Millerston?
Hogganfield Loch has always been a dominant presence in the Millerston area of Glasgow.
In the early days it was a vital source of ice for Glasgow shops, and several ice houses were
situated in the vicinity of the loch.
The Edwardians and Victorians used it for skating and curling in winter, but such use was greatly inhibited by the fact that much of the shore was in private hands.
It wasn't until 1924 that the loch was officially opened to the public.
